A few month ago I had a gas valve fail on our water heater. While the plumber was replacing the gas valve he told me that a good way to extend the life of the water heater would be to periodically flush the sediment from the water heater. When I ask him how often this should be done, he suggested monthly or bi-monthly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I drained the sediment from the water heater few months ago, and today I decided it would be a good day to do it again. I’m glad I did, because when flushed the water heater I got a lot of rust looking water out of the drain hose. I’m thinking I might want to flush the water heater monthly instead of bi-monthly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
