Ratcheting PVC pipe cutter that provides quick cuts on Schedule 40 PVC, ABS, Vinyl, Poly, and tubing. Can cut pipe sizes from 1/8″ through 1-1/2″.
This is a great pipe cutter. I have tried cheaper pipe cutters from the home improvement stores and they never compare to this pipe cutter. The blades on the cheaper cutters don’t last as long, the ratcheting mechanism on the the cheaper pipe cutters isn’t as good as the Wheeler, and if you are using the cutters for any length of time, fatigue becomes an issue with the cheaper cutters.
I’ve been using this brand of PVC pipe cutters for more than 15 years, and haven’t come across anything better on the market. You can buy a replacement blade, but they are half the cost of a new cutter, so I just go ahead and buy a new unit. Price ranges from $49 dollars and up, and compared to the $15-20 dollars you would pay for cheaper pipe cutters at the home improvement store, I still think they are worth the additional cost.
Pros – Strong blade that resists chipping, ratcheting mechanism, ergonomic design.
Cons – Pipe cutter is pricey.
When a plastic or metal pipe needs to be cut cleanly and quickly, a pipe cutter is the ideal tool for the job. Using a saw can be difficult and messy.
