I saw this sprinkler riser at a rest stop in Oregon recently. Can you tell what’s wrong here?

The problem I noticed is something to do with the piping.
what is worng with the piping
The piping is PVC. PVC pipe above ground doesn’t do well in sunlight. It discolors and becomes brittle. A better solution would be to use a Schedule 80 PVC nipple that is stronger than the PVC pipe and is gray in color so it will handle the sunlight better.
